Tower Shield Final
Westgate will play Trimpell in the Final of the Tower Shield at Bare CC on Sunday the 12 September.
Annual Presentation Dinner
This will take place at the Clarendon Hotel, Waterfront Restaurant on Friday 15th October.
A three course meal with coffee and choc mints. There is a choice of menus. It would be helpful if your choices could be made before the end of the season. See Chris Hill for menus.
The cost is £22 per person.
Junior Presentation Evening
Westgate Cricket Club would like to invite all Junior members, their families and friends to our annual Junior Presentation Evening on Friday 10th September 2010 in the clubhouse at Westgate Cricket Club.
The evening will start at 6.30pm.
Food will be provided for which there will be a small charge of £3 per head.
At Westgate we believe that our Junior members are a valuable part of the club and their achievements and successes should be recognised and celebrated.

2010 Junior Season
2010 saw, for the first time, the Club run three junior sides at Under 12, Under14 and Under 16 level.
We would like to thank all parents who have supported the sides and helped with transport when necessary. It has been appreciated.
The Club would also like to thank the coaches and players who have given their time freely to help in any aspect of the junior section. Particularly Chris Hill who organised and ran the practices for the Under 12’s and Under14’s, scored and umpired matches, David Hughes who organised and ran the practices for the Under 16’s and the following coaches and players who helped out at various times, Dave Hannigan, Peter Wilson, Andy Hill, Matthew Hill, Zac Buchanan, Khan Puffett, Garry Tattersall, Andrew Wilson and Dave Murphy.
A special mention must go to Ann Hannigan who scored for the Under 14’s and Under 16’s. It is thanks to Ann that those junior scorebooks are second to none in both neatness and detail.

Tracksuits 2011-------75 Years Celebration
Westgate Cricket Club celebrates 75 years of cricket in 2011. We intend to start our celebrations with the introduction of a new club tracksuit top which will include 1936 - 2011 75 YEARS NOT OUT.
The quality of the new tracksuit top is better than the present ones.
We require orders before the end of September to ensure that they are ready for the start of the 2011 season.
Prices will be £35 for seniors and £32 for under 14's.

Second team Debut
Westgate second eleven blooded yet another promising junior in the shape of Connor Jeffreys against Holme on the 30th May 2010. Although he had no chance with the bat due to Westgate amassing 197 runs for a few wickets, he let no one down in the field with his positive attitude. Well done Connor may it be the first of many.
Westgate second eleven blooded a promising junior in the shape of Jack Friel against Warton "A" on the 9th May 2010. Although he did not have much opportunity to show what he can do it was a positive and pleasing first experience of senior cricket. Well done Jack may it be the first of many.
Guard Of Honour
Westgate have been selected to provide the Guard Of Honour for the Friends Provident t20 match, Lancashire Lightning v Warwickshire Bears, on Sunday 20th June at Old Trafford. The club have a limited number of tickets available which will be on a first come first served basis. Transport will be provided for those juniors who make up the Guard Of Honour. We have recently installed a new batting end practice strip, this has only been possible with a grant from the Lord’s Taverners. We would like to express our thanks and appreciation to the Lord’s Taverners.

Under 13 Indoor 6 - a - side Champions
Westgate are the U-13 Indoor Six-a-Side Champions for 2010. Congratulations to the eight juniors who represented the club.

Congratulations to Alan Horne who was recently afforded the honour of life membership for services to the club over the years.
Under 13's 6 - a - side Competition
The Under 13 6 - a - side squad played their first two games in this years competition on Sunday 7th February. They won both their games including a thrilling finish against Trimpell. They play again on the 14th March.

Bonus Ball
There are still some numbers left for the bonus ball. Numbers are only £1 for the chnace to win £25 and at the same time help the club raise funds. If you want to participate and help the club at the same time please contact Chris Hill.
Sponsorship
The club is grateful to all those who have sponsored us this year. Without this sponsorship the club would find it difficult to continue to improve the ground and facilities. In the current financial climate sponsorship remains important but has become increasingly more difficult to find. Therefore the club asks that all members, players, parents and supporters to "keep an eye out" for any opportunity to encourage new sponsors for the 2011 season, whether firms or individuals.
Maiden Century
Congratulations to Rodger Hill on scoring his first century, 100 not out, against Kirkby Lonsdale on Saturday 29th August.
Congratulations to 16 year old Craig Cleminson who made his 2nd XI debut on Saturday 22nd August at Coniston.
Congratulations to 13 year old Chris Cape who made his 2nd XI debut on Saturday 4th July.
Maiden Half Century.
Congratulations to 13 year old Matthew Hannigan who scored his maiden half century last night, Monday 22 June, in a mid-week game at Westgate.
The Galbraith Trust.
The club has been awarded a grant from The Galbraith Trust for the purchase of a practice cage.
We are grateful to The Galbraith Trust for this funding which will enable the club to further improve our practice facilities.
Hat-Trick!
Congratulations to Alex Briggs who took a hat-trick in the U - 13 match against Shireshead on Thursday 14 May.
